Job Description

D&H Distributing, established in 1918, is a leading distributor of computer, electronics, housewares, home entertainment and sporting goods products to businesses in the U.S. and Canada.  We are currently recruiting for the Distribution Center Manager of our largest Distribution Center in Newnan, GA. (470k sq ft, over 150 employees).  The DC Manager is ultimately responsible for the facility including providing leadership to management and co-owners, and, meeting all operational and financial objectives.

Responsibilities include:

  •  Maintain receiving, warehousing and distribution operations by initiating operational and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Assure that all co-owners adhere to industry standard safety and quality procedures. Assist in maintaining the security of the building and conduct all activities in a manner that promotes a safe environment. Insure operations are in compliance with all Federal, State, Local and D&H regulations/policies.
  • Lead the development of annual DC budgets.  Make recommendations to senior management on programs and systems to improve operational performance and cost take out.  Ensure we are achieving Budgets.
  • Control inventory accuracy by conducting physical counts; reconciling with WMS.
  • Maintain physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
  • Complete warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Manage warehouse staff by coaching, counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring and appraising job results.
  • Ability to interact and build strong relationships with internal and external customers. Excellent organizational, prioritizing, multi-tasking, product management and problem-solving skills with a strong sense of urgency.
  • A hands-on management approach that encourages change and creative problem solving.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced and high-intensity environment.
  • Ability to meet strict time frames in environments with zero tolerance for failure.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to drive operational performance at the site level with a particular focus on productivity, quality, and cost.

As the Distribution Center Manager you have oversight of all tasks and distribution functions of the center.  You must be able to motivate your team, evaluate the results, and coach through deficiencies that may be present.  You must project a professional company image through face to face, phone and email interactions.  Through previous experience and on-the-job training you must be able to display an understanding of facility and department goals and how to reach them, create positive interaction between your facility, including all departments, and the entire organization.  You must have the skills necessary to build a strong team, including training, planning, motivating, evaluating, coaching, counseling, and problem solving.  We are seeking candidates who are self-motivated, driven to succeed and enthusiastic about learning and growing with an industry leader.

 Other requirements of the Manager role include:

Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, or a related field

5-10 years in a Leadership capacity with experience in:

  • Safety Management
  • Developing Standards
  • Managing Processes
  • Inventory Control
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Customer Relations
  • Reporting Skills
  • Knowledge of WMS & LMS systems
  • Knowledge of Lean
  • Flexibility to work on various shifts and departments
