We are looking for a Purchasing Manager to support our Buying Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists Director/VP Purchasing by managing, monitoring and evaluating the day-to-day purchasing department programs and operations.
  • Works closely with Director/VP Purchasing on inventory levels and overstocks.
  • Evaluates the work of assigned departmental staff and provides staff training and development to ensure a professional and ethical public procurement function.
  • In the absence of the director, may serve as acting director.
  • Recommends and implements changes in policy and procedures as necessary to meet continually varying requirements.
  • Supervises and contributes to the preparation of departmental reports relative to costs, quality, quantity, value, trends, systems, and personnel.
  • Oversees inventory management functions and slow moving inventory.
  • Must be detail-oriented and be driven to perform work accurately at all times
  • Understands the importance of being in-stock to support the sales trends along with the financial needs of the company to optimize inventory and maximize cash flow.

                                

 

 

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field
  • 5+ years experience managing purchasing operations including direct supervision of a team
  • 2+ years in buying, account management, product management, project management, financial analysis, and/or marketing preferably in distribution.
  • Experience using Excel and other tools to analyze data and support business decisions
  • Strong database and computer skills
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle or SAP
  • Proficiency in MS Access
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
